Video Games Study
July 4th 2007 13:23
Despite showing that kids who play games during school days did 34% less homework than those who didn't. The other common notion, that kids who play games spend less time with their families and friends was proven false.
There was no significant relationship found between kids playing video games and playing less sports with friends. The research also found that on average boys play about fifty eight minutes on weekdays and an hour and thirty seven minutes on weekends. Girls on the other hand play about forty four minutes a day on weekdays and an hour and four minutes on weekends.
Overall the research found that there was no relationship between a diminished social life and video games. As such kids who play video games aren't social retards just because they do, other factors are probably at play.
The basic conclusion of the research is that while kids who play games spend less time doing homework it doesn't necessarily mean they are social outcasts. In fact there is even the possibility that kids who play games get their homework done faster, so score one for World of Warcraft.
