My significant other and I were going to pre-order a Wii, though we decided to wait after reading about various problems, including www.wiihaveaproblem.com on the flimsiness of the controller strap.

At first I accredited it to people playing too hard, and then of course sweaty hands making it worse, but you'll notice one image on the page shows a photo of how thin the strap is. It looks like it's the thinness of a cotton thread there.

I'm now wondering whether Nintendo will release a newer version of the controller with a stronger strap, since although I'm pretty sure I won't play hard enough to break stuff but I wouldn't trust other people coming over and smashing up my new monitor with it.

So long as you and your significant other don't partake in games with snails or covering yourselves in butter and bathing in astroglide (no clue with that is) I don't see what the erm... problem should be with slippery remotes.

But one things certain, if the wii-mote is flung from your hand at highspeeds odds are it will smash your TV in... those things are sturdy...

It bloody hot in Cairns during summer, and you still get sweaty within 10-15 minutes at other times of the year. It's pretty humid here, so sweaty hands are pretty much guaranteed.

yeah, butter really melts in the hot weather

Anyway, I don'tthink I need to mention the fact swingling like a deranged monkey is optional in this game...

Haha, nice comic. It seems like a fair few webcomics are cashing in on this Wii remote breakages thing.

yeah, but CAD's caught up in a subplot so no wii-mote jokes... *sigh* http://ctrlaltdel-online.com/comics/20061204.jpg

Yet.

How coincidental that you mention CAD first, since it's the one webcomic I check regularly.

Heh, not suprised, CAD is the RPG equivalent of the gaming webcomic world...

I think CAD is going downhill as the writer is focusing on his other projects...

Yeah? I think the CAD comic is still as good as usual. Well, when it involves the main cast. I like the Player stuff sometimes, but I don't really find Chef Brian funny. The game-based ones amuse me if I know what 's going on.

I think the CAD Animation has been going downhill since around episode 4-5 though. Especially episode 9 (which Tim admitted, bombed) that focused solely on Battlefield 2142 with nothing telling people who haven't played the game what it's making fun of.
